Gawith Hoggarth snuff is one of the oldest snuff manufacturers in England but the Gawith Hoggarth name is relatively new. Prior to the 1990’s, it was known as Samuel Gawith and company from 1867 to the late 1990’s. The mill at Kendal began it’s life in 1792 with Thomas Harrison where he lived. Harrison saw the potential in snuff and left Kendal to travel to Glasgow, Scotland and learn all about the snuff business. |
